The George Reiff Producers Grant: Investing in the Architects of Sound

Behind every great record is a producer shaping the sound, guiding the process, and helping artists realize something bigger than what they could create alone. And yet, producers are often some of the least resourced contributors in the music ecosystem.

The George Reiff Producers Grant was created to change that.

Presented by Sonic Guild, the program awards $7,500 grants to working producers in Seattle and Austin, supporting them in creating new work with artists who could not otherwise afford professional production.

At its core, the grant addresses a quiet but critical gap. Many artists have strong ideas and momentum, but lack access to high-quality production. At the same time, producers have the skill and vision to elevate those ideas, but not always the financial runway to take on projects that aren’t commercially guaranteed.

This program brings those two realities together and removes the barrier.

Honoring a Legacy of Generosity and Craft

The grant is named in honor of George Reiff, a cornerstone of the Austin music community.

George was more than a producer. He was a collaborator, a mentor, and a steady presence in countless creative projects. Known for his musicianship, his generosity, and his belief in others, he helped shape not just records, but relationships.

After his passing in 2017, this grant was created to carry forward those values. It honors not only his technical excellence, but the way he showed up for people.

That spirit is embedded in the structure of the program itself.
